The National Mathematical Centre, Abuja, a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Education, is organizing the second edition of the Nigerian Universities Computer Programming Contest (NUCPC). The contest is open to Federal, State and private Universities in Nigeria. The key objective is to select high scoring Teams in C, C++ and java SDK programming Languages who would represent their respective Universities and Nigeria at the West African/South Africa Regional Contest about October, 2008. The top teams of these contest advance to the World Finals of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest March, 2009.

This second edition took place at the Computer Laboratory Building of the National Mathematical Centre, 2-5 September, 2008.University of Ibadan emerged as the winner out of sixteen schools which contested.The result was amazing.The opening speech was given by the Chief host Prof Sam O. Ale The programme was honoured by the Honorable Minister of Education Dr Igwe Aja-Nwachukwu who gave a remarkable speech at closing ceremony.
